Manga / Anime

When I was very young, my favorite cartoon series was the Japanese anime Kimba the White Lion. I expect this accounts for my undying affection for all things manga and anime as an adult.

Tetsuwan AtomKimba was the American dubbed version of Osamu Tezuka's Jungle Emperor (created 1965-66). Tezuka also created a number of other well-known manga and anime, such as Astroboy (aka Tetsuwan Atom, created 1963). I've compiled a short and incomplete profile of Osamu Tezuka, "the father of manga".

Current favorite manga/anime

Revolutionary Girl Utena - Chiho Saito, Be-Papas
Inuyasha - Rumiko Takahashi
Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis
Battle Angel Alita: Last Orders - Yukito Kishiroi
Serial Experiments Lain
Steam Detectives - Kia Asamiya
Dragonball (not Z) - Akira Toriyama
anything Hayao Miyazaki
Shonen Jump (English version, by Viz) including Naruto (Masashi Kishimoto), Sandland (Akira Toriyama), Shamen King (Hiroyuki Takei)

Other (obscure) anime from my childhood
